Following our recent Peace Readings: Fundraiser for Ukraine this April, Kibo Productions is excited to continue our work amplifying Ukrainian playwrights by producing a double-bill of newly translated plays this July at Barons Court Theatre.

 

Save the Light by Polina Pologenceva: The compelling story of a woman and her child fleeing the war in Ukraine in spring 2022. Told with humour and humanity, Polina’s story offers a unique insight into life as a refugee in a way not seen on the news. (World Premiere)

 

Fox, Dark as a Light Night by Andriy Bondarenko: a deeply poetic dreamplay about a lonely refugee from the 2014 war in Donbass, Igor, living in a basement and teaching Japanese online. He desperately looks for redemption and happiness, but struggles with traumatic visions from the past. (World Premiere)

 

We are looking for a company of four actors to collaboratively perform the two plays. The company will work with both directors. Rehearsals will be both in person and online throughout June.

Performances:  12 - 16 July 2022 at 7:30pm Barons Court Theatre

Rehearsals: Will begin week commencing 13 June. In-person and online daytime and weekends with some evening options to accommodate outside work.

Auditions: 11 June 2022 11:00am - 4:00pm at Barons Court Theatre. Auditions will be held in a group with any sides or tasks sent in advance.

Male - age 25-30, Ukrainian and Japanese language skills are a plus. Slim. Main role in Fox, Light as a Dark Night. 

 

* Ability to improvise is desirable as the production will have the elements of immersive theatre. 

* Experience with devising theatre is a plus.

 

We will shortlist all Ukrainian actors. We will also shortlist actors who have experience of being an asylum seeker.
