Love, Hate, and Human Rights

If you are a writer or director who would like to create work for the festival, please look below for details on the guidelines for applying.

Thank you for your interest.

Playwrights

We are looking for 20min plays that are inspired by current human rights issues unfolding worldwide. We favor plays that ask questions and foster debate. We are less interested in verbatim pieces or direct re-telling of what is being reported in the media, and while irreverence and humor is encouraged, the vilification of any particular country is not. Shorter plays will be considered as will plays from first time writers and international playwrights.

Plays should have five actors or less and can take place in any time or place of the writer's imagining. We recommend sets and props be kept to a minimum and encourage writers to take risks.

Deadline for submissions is noon 26 August. Please send submissions to writers@kiboproductions.com.

**Update: Due to a number of requests and late submissions past the Bank Holiday deadline, we are extending the writer's deadline until Thursday 29 August at noon. Please understand we can accept no late submissions beyond that time. Many thanks to everyone for your submissions.**

Plays will be matched with directors for development. We anticipate each play will have a six-performance run; however, this number may be adjusted according to programming needs. Tech will be on the 16th and writers are welcome to attend.

Unfortunately we are not able to provide a fee.

Directors

We are looking for directors passionate about new writing who are excited about working on topical theatre pieces.

Directors will be matched with a play after the selection process and have complete freedom to cast and rehearse their play. We will try to support the rehearsal process as much as possible, however, each director will need to source their own rehearsal space. Each play will have time in the Barons Court Theatre on the 16th September to rehearse and tech their piece.

Please send expressions of interest (cv included) to directors@kiboproductions.com by midnight on 24th Aug. We will arrange meetings with shortlisted candidates for the evening of 27 August.

Unfortunately we are not able to provide a fee.
