Ducks Casting Call

Call out for actors to work on a full length profit share production about modern love and mental health.

Ducks is a heartfelt story of love and loss that follows duck enthusiast, Lucie. When Lucie is asked by her therapist friend, Ed, to talk about her life, she finds herself gravitating to discussions about her ex partner, Jem.

 

Over the course of their sessions, she digs deeper into the past and her thoughts surrounding her relationship with Jem are thrown into question. Love and memory intertwine beneath the surface as Lucie attempts to make sense of all she discovers.

Ducks will be directed by Afton Aitkenhead and feature Mercedes May López in the role of Lucie. Both Afton and May worked with Kibo Productions on last year’s Reboot Festival.

Roles

​

Jem (late 20’s - 30’s): Lucie’s (ex) girlfriend, forms a strong bond with Lucie but as her mental health deteriorates, she and Lucie’s ability to communicate falls apart.

 

Ed (late 20s - 30’s): Training to be a therapist, wants to help Lucie, but struggles to get her to open up.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from queer actors for both these roles, but encourage everyone to apply.

 

Auditions

Auditions will be held 16th January 5:30 - 7:30pm, 17th January 9:00am - 12:00pm and 18th January 9:00am - 1:00pm at Barons Court theatre. Please advise if you have any time slot requests when applying.

Applicants who are invited to audition will be sent the script and sides in advance of their audition date. The closing date for applications is Saturday 15th January at 3pm.

 

We will notify all applicants of the outcome of their applications by Monday 17th January. 

 

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will take place daytimes 24th Jan - 13th Feb exact days and times tbc. Tech will take place on Sunday 13th and/or Monday 14th February.

 

Performances

Ducks by Hannah Kennedy will run 15 -19 February at the Barons Court Theatre at 7:30pm.

 

Payment

The production will operate on a profit-share basis.
